Our fundraising events have been cancelled and community fundraising has stopped. Hospice Waikato is forecasting a loss of revenue in excess of $1 million dollars. In these unprecedented and unpredictable times palliative care has never been more important. Those who are elderly, frail, and/or with underlying chronic or serious illness are most at risk from the Covid-19 virus. Since our Level Four alert was announced our community nurses have been working tirelessly in our community to ensure that our patients receive the very best care. It is an extremely worrying time for our patients and their families. There are many things we still don't know with the situation changing daily but sadly one thing we do know is that COVID-19 is having a devastating effect on our ability to raise funds.
