New Plymouth Physiotherapy New Plymouth Physiotherapy is very excited to launch our new diagnostic ultrasound scanning clinic run by one of our Physiotherapists, Grace Kelly. Grace was trained through the Australian Institute of Ultrasound and being a Physiotherapist, helps with accurate anatomical knowledge and diagnosis. Ultrasound is a useful diagnostic tool which uses sound waves to assess and grade a variety of muscle, tendon, ligament, nerve and bony injuries. Ultrasound is a noninvasive technique, it is a safe scanning tool which does not use radiation to produce an image. Ultrasound is not a treatment technique, it is a diagnostic tool used to help with the diagnosis of an injury. Ultrasound within our clinic can be used to diagnose: Muscle tears . Tendon injuries Ligament sprains or tears . Nerve entrapment or injuries e.g. carpal tunnel, ulnar nerve subluxation etc . Fluid or inflammation within a joint or bursa.
