FREE HEARING CHECK Before it's too late We know there may be a few of you who might have a slight hearing problem but aren't aware of it. Perhaps you know someone who fits this category. This is their chance to get a quick 15 minute hearing check. If all is well, no harm done! If we do pick up a noise induced loss it will be a good idea to lodge your ACC claim now rather than later. Under ACC the amount of funding you receive can decline the older you get. Below is a chart showing different noise levels. If you have ticked yes to one or more of these categories then you may well fit the criteria for a noise induced hearing loss. Time Limit (approx) Instant 15 sec 3-7 min 7-15 min 30 min 1 hour 2 hours 4 hours 8 hours Nil Nil DB 140 120+ 110+ Sound Source Yes/No Danger levels occur from the 80db mark. Chainsaw cutting Compressor 105+Pig at feeding time 100 Working tractor (no cab) 95 90 85 80 50-70 20 Angle grinder Shearing shed Heavy truck Tractor idling Conversation Whisper If you have ticked yes to any of the noise levels above the danger line (or been exposed to similar noise levels) & are over 50, then it is worth getting your hearing checked. We are doing this for FREE at our Pukekohe and Papakura clinics. At Wolfe Hearing we use qualified audiologists and are registered with ACC. We are reserving the initial FREE hearing check appointments for those who phone up from noisy occupations, however after that, anyone who suspects they may have a hearing loss is welcome to come and get their hearing checked!!!
