Ko ng krero m tnei trangi | About the role Our Assets and Services Department is responsible for delivering the key services of roading, river control, drainage, water, sewerage, stormwater, waste management and emergency management. The Department accounts for approximately 70% of Council's annual operating expenditure plus significant major capital projects. We are looking for a Monitoring Officer to collect our Assets & Services Department's monitoring samples (including tradewaste, water, stormwater and groundwater). Samples will be taken from rivers, water and wastewater treatment plants, water supply, wastewater reticulation, ground water monitoring bores, landfill, marine environments, and other areas as advised. This will also require conducting some basic field tests and measurements with mobile scientific instruments. Ko ng pumanawa u | About you Ideally you will have a basic understanding of water, wastewater, and storm water infrastructure. You will have, or be willing to attain, unit standards for the sampling of drinking water and wastewater. Previous experience in the collection of environmental monitoring samples would be preferred. Candidates with similar experience will be considered and training will be provided. This role would suit someone that has a good level of physical fitness as you will be required to work outdoors for extended periods. You will be confident in your safe off-road driving abilities.
