Protection of this habitat is vital for the public's enjoyment and the survival of our native species Rapore Sen Predator control operations DOC carries out predator control within Papa Aroha to control possums and rats, which browse on trees, prey on eggs and chicks of native birds and reduce food sources for indigenous species. Opou Poine DOC uses cholecalciferol and diphacinone baits at permanent bait stations throughout Papa Aroha. The baits are designed to attract possums and rats but to deter birds. We also use diphacinone in paste form, and eyanide in pellet form.
