Monawatia a Matariki Manawatia a Matariki A time of reflection and new beginnings Advertorial A Tribute to the Creator of Matariki Day Modern technology has brought the knowledge of Matarki to the consciousness of the New Zealand public in a short time and the majority of the country is familiar with Matarik-the young the old, Miori, non Mori. That it would be a public holiday of this country validates how impactful Matarki has become Matis Moritative. It is the life-long passion and research of one person that has brought Matar to the notice of New Zealand. That person is Professorangan Mataamua of Tho Trecall his grandfather and grandmother making a special trip to Waiata to introduce their 15 year old grandson to me. I was an academic at Te Kawa Mat Victoria University at that time and Rang's grandparents wanted me to talk to Rang about university and career prospects Three years later, he was enrolled at Victoria University and on a path to a brilliant career centered around the stars and the universe. While still grappling with the astronomical prospect of the universe, he wrote a master's thesis on Te Mata o te Rua Tühe which was about Tuhoe martial arts. It was something that Rang could do without too much effort. The more tilating topic, that of Matarki, had to be his Ph.D. topic. He had much of the information there.
