COMMUNITY SEMINAR 'THIS THURSDAY' - Helpful Tools to Support the Grieving This exert is from this hour long community groups aimed at equipping community seminar and workshop that the community to better support others I will be running to provide an array of journeying through grief. tools to help you support your loved ones, family, neighbours and friends who are going through grief. Details of this community equipping seminar is as follows: You're Not Listening to me "When I talk, will you listen? Or will you just start talking back at me, offering help, giving advice, for if you do these things, you are not doing what I have asked!" "When I talk will you listen? Or will you begin to tell me "Why I shouldn't feel that way if so, you are not hearing what I am saying!" "When I talk will you listen? Or do you feel you have to 'Do something' to solve my problem, if you do this you have failed me, though that may seem strange!" The focus of this seminar is not for those who are grieving, but for you to gain the skills to support others in their grief. There is, of course, always a spin-off effect in gaining invaluable insights, and tools for 'self care' In this seminar, I will use stories and examples to turn some long held ideas on their heads and provide time for questions and stories from those present. There will be a workbook to take notes and keep, and the cost is whatever you wish to donate as a Koha to the Loss & Grief centre. Presenter - Andrew Malcolm Loss Grief CENTRE- Venue: The Old Mill Function room 7 Hinemoa Street, Paraparaumu I have been a Funeral Directors for 40 years next year, and am a founding trustee of the Kapiti Loss and Grief Centre, but it was part of my past role many years ago as national tutor in Funeral Services when I first put together seminars like this.
