Give a little for kaibosh - helping those in times of need this Christmas who's ethos is... also reduces carbon emissions from waste. Normally at the end of the year Kapiti Coast Funeral Home hold a get together to thank all those who have helped us service the families we have cared for over the year by way of refreshments and some Christmas cheer', but this year we are doing something different. "Zero Food Poverty, Zero Food Waste". Kaibosh Food Rescue links food suppliers with community groups who support people in need. This ensures that surplus quality food reaches those who are struggling rather than being needlessly discarded. This benefits both our community and our environment. Kaibosh provides this service at no cost to food donors, charities or community groups, and is helped to operate through donations from individuals and organisations such as Kapiti Coast Funeral Home. Kaibosh has a branch in Paraparaumu and as a group Kaibosh rescues and sorts food seven days a week. The group redistribute a large quantity of quality surplus food each month to charities and community groups that support people in need. As well as Those who have helped us cared for the families we served include Church assistants, ladies groups who served refreshments, church vergers & sound and AV assistants, nursing staff and doctors, caregivers and drivers, volunteers and support workers, but this year, things are harder for many in the community so,.. we have decided to forgo our 'function' and instead use the money to go towards KaiBosh. Kaibosh is a food rescue organisation providing for those who need it most it this especially giving time of year.
