That's where being a responsible pet owner comes in. We are receiving multiple complaints regarding dog poo littering our parks, reserves and walkways. If a pooch is part of your family, please remember to take along a plastic bag when you are out walking and discard of it in the bins provided to make all our walkways parks and reserves enjoyable for everyone. Our elected members were given a tour of Matamata-Piako last week, to get a broad insight into the inner workings of the district they represent. At the beginning of each new term, Councillors, new and re-elected, tour parks and reserves, water treatment plants, new subdivisions, libraries and Council facilities. "it's a really great way to see the district," said Mayor Ash Tanner. We get a broad view of what we offer our residengs and visitors and see our rates at work. As ratepayers ourselves, it is a really valuable experience. We visited the Morrinsville Events Centre where our ibraries team were hosting the Finale Party for the Summer Journey reading programme. The kids there were having such a great time being entertained by a ninja who could juggle! It's really neat that our kids are enjoying reading over the holiday and enjoying a party at the end of the programme." Kerbside holiday collection Rubbish and recycling collections will be one day later following Auckland Anniversary Day and Waitangi Day. Te Aroha 31 January - rubbish only Friday 7 February - rubbish and recycling Water Restriclions As a resuit of a long hot summer with very little rain, our whole district is now in Matamata (Walton, Waharoa) Saturday, 1 February rubbish only Saturday. 8 February - rubbish and recycling Morrinsville (Mangateparu, Waitoa, Waihou & Tahuna) Saturday. 1 February - rubbish and recycling sprinkler ban AMternate days level 2 water restrictions. Hoses, sprinklers and garden irrigation systems can only be used on alternate days. Learn many, easy ways to conserve water at home by checking out mpde.govt.nz Get out and explore Summer is the perfect time to be outdoors and while the kids are on holiday, irs a great time to get out and explore. Notice of Meetings There are a variety of different walkways in Matamata-Piako for all ages and abilities. Wairere Falls in Matamata and Mount Te Aroha provide a great challenge but ir's easy enough for younger.children if time is on your side. The Howarth Memorial Wetlands in Te Aroha is a wonderful walk if you enjoy spotting birds in their natural habitat. The following meetings have been scheduled for the month of February, to be held at Council Chambers, 35 Kenrick Street, Te Aroha; Matamata-Piako District Council: Wednesday, 12 February at 9am Corporate & Operations Committee: Wednesday. 26 February at 9am This notice is made in occordance with Section 46 of the Local Government Oficial information and Meetings Act 1987. In Morrinsville the River Walk is a great for a gentle walk, but if oycling is more your thing, take the bike up to Te Miro Forest Mountain Biking Track.
