Inside, along the centre, is a narrow space for one person to sleep, and both sides open to reveal shelves which carried a veritable emporium of assorted household goods. Built in Wellington in 1900, it was used until 1957 by Peter Kerouse, who travelled the roads of the Manawatu selling everything from "a needle to an anchor". Peter lived on as one of the colourful characters in the folk legends of our district. Given to the Society in 1964, and restored by members, this vehicle is one of the first vehicles to form part of the current collection, and is one of the many vehicles, objects and items now on permanent exhibit in the museum.
