Three students recently went to Auckland University to take part in the Auckland Regional Mandarin Language Competition. These students all did extremely well with being Exciting Language Learning at Henderson Intermediate School! The recent trip to China by 23 students and 3 staff membersced 3RD from Henderson Intermediate was another great success. Every year at this time a group of student gets to go to China for 14 days. This is part of Fudan University, Confucius Institute Partner, and is funded by Hanban. Every student passed the Mandarin YCT Level One Examination held at Fudan University while they were in China. Learning a second language enhances student learning across all other areas of learning. Our students are very lucky as they get to have such a great selection of languages that they can learn. As well as Mandarin, all students learn basic te reo Mãori bilingual or full immersion Mãori. We also have a Samoan in Samoan. This year has seen us add for students, the option of Korean.
