St John Here for Life e HEALTH SHUTTLE tJohn St John Thames: Health Shuttles Serving the Thames, Paeroa and Ngatea communities Patients that do not show for their medical appointments cost large amounts of funds to the DHB, but also inconvenience other patients on the waiting lists. Availability of transport, and a lack of support to find their way are two of the obstacles to attendance. Each month our Thames shuttles travel a median of 17,323 kms transporting 500 patients from Thames, Ngatea, and Paeroa. That is 500 members of the community who we helped get to their medical appointments and supported on arrival. It is an essential service that we provide with our volunteer Health Shuttle drivers. We strive to maintain an effective volunteer service to the community. but We need more drivers from the Thames, Ngatea and Paeroa area.
