St John Here for Life St John in Thames August was another really busy month for our volunteer health shuttle drivers that look after the Thames, Ngatea and Paeroa communities. Our shuttles transported 543 patients and travelled 21,459 km providing this essential service to our community. It takes volunteers to operate the service and donations to fund it. How can you help? We need volunteer drivers for our next intake and donations to keep it running. St John volunteer staff also provide support services at Thames Hospital. They provide comfort and support to patients and their relatives who are in the Emergency Department. And they visit the ward and provide someone to sit and talk to for patients facing lengthy stays. How can you help? We need more volunteer staff for our Hospital duties roster. St John will provide full training. There are no clinical skills required for either of these volunteer roles. Not able to volunteer? Donations to help support these programmes and keep them running are appreciated.
