Community Representatives for Grants Allocation Subcommittee sought Are you passionate about building resilient sustainable communities in Kpiti and ensuring there are opportunities for our people to engage with and participate in local arts activities? Are you interested in representing your community in assessing proposals and allocating grants that will support these outcomes? The Kapiti Coast District Council is seeking applications from interested and qualified persons for community representative roles for its Grants Allocation Subcommittee. We are seeking three community representatives for the Creative Communities NZ Scheme and two community representatives for the Community Grants Scheme Creative Communities Scheme aims to create opportunities for our local communities to engage with and participate in arts activities, supports diverse artistic cultural traditions of local communities, and enable and encourage young people under the age of 18 to participate in the arts. Applications for this Scheme are considered twice-yearly with the first meeting is in April 2020. The Community Grants Scheme aims to strengthen local communities by providing financial support. Funding is provided to not-for-profit organisations to support a social environment that makes the Kpiti Coast District a good place to live. Community grants may be allocated to proposals that build resilient sustainable communities, encourage greater community participation, improve the quality of life of the participants and/or work in partnership with a range of community groups, including iwi. This Subcommittee meets annually in October to consider grant applications. These are important roles and applicants need to provide a statement of claims, outlining their knowledge, skills and expertise relating to the local community, including local events, community activities and arts activities, together with two letters of endorsement. Membership is for three years until October 2022 and preferred applicants, once appointed by Council, will be inducted into their roles and remunerated for attendance at meetings.
