By-Election to Fill (One) Vacancy on the Waikanae Community Board Notice of Election, Nomination of Candidates and Closing Date for the Receipt of Nominations. Under Section 52 of the Local Electoral Act 2001, I hereby give notice that on Saturday 7 November 2020, a by-election will be held to fill the vacancy which now exists on the Waikanae Community Board. The by-election will be held by postal vote under the Single Transferable Voting (STV) electoral system. Nominations for the vacancy will open on Friday 14 August 2020 and completed nominations must be in my hands at the address shown below no later than noon Friday 11 September 2020. Candidates must be nominated on the official nomination paper, copies of which are obtainable from: Paraparaumu Customer Service Centre, 175 Rimu Road, Paraparaumu Paraparaumu Library, 9 Iver Trask Place, Paraparaumu Waikanae Library and Service Centre, Mahara Place, Waikanae telephoning Council's Call Centre on 296 4700 or 0800 486 486 our website www.kapiticoast.govt.nz Candidates may live outside the Waikanae Community Board area but the two people required as nominators must be enrolled to vote in the Waikanae Community Board area. The nomination paper must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 (GST inclusive), which may be paid by cash, EFTPOS or on-line banking. Candidates are encouraged to submit a candidate profile statement of up to 150 words and a recent colour photograph with their nomination paper. (An attachment to the nomination paper outlines the requirements for candidate profile statements and photos.) A copy of these documents will be sent out to electors with their voting documents. Preliminary Electoral Roll Available for Inspection A copy of the Preliminary Residential and Ratepayer Electoral Roll to be used for the by-election will be available for inspection at the following locations, during normal office hours, from Friday 14 August 2020. (i) Paraparaumu Customer Service Centre, 175 Rimu Road, Paraparaumu (ii) Paraparaumu Library, 9 Iver Trask Place, Paraparaumu (ii) Waikanae Library and Service Centre, Mahara Place, Waikanae The preliminary roll closes at 5pm on Friday 11 September 2020. People may enrol or amend their enrolment details by: : completing the appropriate form, available at any of the above locations or at any NZ Post Shop, and returning it to the Registrar of Electors for the Otaki Electorate. These forms must be in the hands of the Registrar of Electors prior to the roll closing. · accessing the Electoral Commission website on www.elections.org.nz · telephoning 0800 ENROLNOW (0800 36 76 56). Applications for registration as a ratepayer elector must be in the form prescribed by the Local Electoral Regulations 2001. Copies of these forms are available from the Kapiti Coast District Council Customer Service Desks, website or by telephoning 04 296 4700. A person may object to an entry on the Ratepayer Electoral Roll where they believe a person appearing on the roll should not be listed on it or where a person does not appear on the roll and believes they are entitled to.
