SOUTHLAND DISTRICT COUNCIL Te Rohe Potae o Murihiku COLLIE ROAD TEMPORARILY CLOSED Collie Road, between Flynn Road and Birchwood Wairio Road, has been closed to normal through traffic until 6pm on Wednesday, 23 February 2022. This is effective immediately. The bridge at the northern end of Collie Road had been scheduled for closure next week while repairs are carried out. However, following an inspection it was decided for safety reasons that the bridge should be closed immediately. We will try to bring forward the bridge repair work but this will be dependent on availability of materials. A detour is available via Birchwood Wairio Road, Main Street, Otautau Nightcaps Road, Waikouro Wairio Road and Flynn Road. Local residents will still be able to access their property either side of the road closure. It will be an offence for vehicles to use the road during the period of closure without the prior written approval of the Group Manager Infrastructure & Environmental Services, Southland District Council.
