CAMBRIDGE DENTAL PRACTICE. CAMBRIDGE DENTAL PRACTICE ORAL HEALTH MAINTENANCE Dr Rosalind Peart Cost is often touted as a reason for not visiting the dentist and I get that. I's not "I don't go unless I have a problem"I hear versions of this mindset over and over again. Just this week I met a charming inexpensive. The cost though of neglect is so much higher in financial and health new patient who now had pain and hence arrived at our doorstep. When I'm chatting to people before even looking in their mouths and I hear this I am filled with trepidation because I know I'm probably going to be delivering some bad news. terms that it really doesn't make sense to leave things until they are a major exercise. Most people would spend more on take away coffee's in a year than it would cost them to go for an annual dental examination. I have many patient's who literally roll in and out of my treatment room once a year, they'll often visit It seems so strange to me that people will take care of their skin, they'll go for mammograms, cervical smears, prostate checks, regular GP visits, the hygienist in between, and that's it. They don't need any treatment because their mouths are well restored, they know how to take care of themselves at service their cars etc but they won't maintain their oral health. It's as if the home and we simply support them by keeping them on track and maintaining mouth is a separate thing not attached to the rest of their body. This couldn't the health of their teeth., gums and bone at their hygienist visits. be further from the truth. Dental disease has a huge negative impact on one's general health and it is very sad to see unstable heart disease and diabetes existing partly because someone's mouth is in very poor condition. Just food for thought.
