CAMBRIDGE DENTAL PRACTICE JUST BREATHE Dr Rosalind Peart Ihave been trying to decide what to write about this week oversimplistic and almost condescending perhaps but it is a very effective way of and struggling to focus. The resurgence of Covid 19 in it's particularly nasty UK form in Auckland is top of mind for me. My mind goes spinning off worrying about how are my tamily helping to deal with stress. I think we tend to think that the only way we can feel better is to actually solve the problem. So what do you do when you can't solve the problem?, it if's too big, too complex and beyond your control. going to cope, how will my business cope and then I'm thinking about my staff and stock supplies, what happens if we go to level three and we can't function normally at all, what about my patient's mid- treatment, what about people who have pain and my hands are tied when it comes to treatment????? You get the picture. It's a rabbit warren of anxiety and dilemma. Not a good place to be. And l imagine many of you might be feeling the same. There is a plethora of information about using breath to focus and calm the nervous system and Il certainly don't profess to be an expert. Go and have a look. I practice breathing when I'm driving to and from work. I switch oft the music, the audio books and just focus on breathing. I'm pretty sure I arrive at work a lot calmer than I would have been otherwise. You might like my staff's opinion on that e Take care all of you, I hope my little ramble helps some of you and we will be OK. So in my mother's words above, "JUST BREATHE". I can remember when I was a teenager (a super A type overachieving nutter I was) she would make me sit down and literally concentrate on my breath . And it works.
