The switchboard, which takes power from the substation to the seven feeders that supply the surrounding area, has been replaced with new equipment that is safer to operate and maintain. The building was extended to make room for the new switch board and the transformers have been installed with large concrete bunds as required for earthquake and environmental considerations. Fast forward to 2021 and some of the equipment including the transformer and switchboard had reached end of life, and were in need of replacement. This project will cost $4.8 million and has taken 12 months.
