What's happening in your community... Happy Campers set for Kalapol The New Zealand Motor Caravan Association has this week opened its new motor caravan park in the Red Zone area of Kalapol East. The caravan park realises a key component of the Kalapoi Town Centre Plan which was adopted by the Waimakariri District Council in 2018. Councils vision was to ensure the future of Kalapol as New Zealand's best rivertown. As well as establishing the now thriving Marine Precinct in Kalapol, there was also the aim of developing a motor caravan site within the Red Zone Kalapoi East area of the town centre. Waimakariri District Council's Senior Business and Centre's Advisor Vanessa Thompson says Council is pleased to welcome the NZCMA to Kaiapol through the opening of its new motor caravan park "The NZMCA has worked incredibly hard over the past year, overcoming some challenges and considerations in the development process to realise its vision for the park, and we congratulate them on reaching this important milestone." James Imlach, NZMCA National Manager - Property & Policy says NZMCA is excited to be able to offer a great new camping option to its members. "The NZMCA is extremely grateful to the council and local community for this opportunity to provide our members with a safe and convenient place to stay, while visiting Kalapol." "Members are looking forward to shopping and eating out in town, while making the most of Kalapoil's bike trails, walking tracks, and family friendly activities. Vanessa Thompson says Council hopes the motor caravan park will be a great catalyst for further development in the Mixed-Use Business areas of Kalapoi, as well as bringing an economic boost to the town. "We look forward to the additional town centre vibrancy and custom NZMCA members will bring to Kalapol businesses, retail, and hospitality outlets. particularly over the summer months. 2023 Census is coming The next census will be held in early 2023.
