What's happening in your community... Waimakariri District Council Appoints Chief Executive Waimakariri District Council has appointed Jeff Millward as its new Chief Executive. Jeff has just shy of four decades of experience in the local government sector and most recently has been Acting Chief Executive at the Council Before this he was the General Manager of Finance and Business Support for 14 years. Waimakariri Mayor Dan Gordon said Mr Millward stood out amongst a range of exceptional applicants and the Council are looking forward to officially welcoming him in his new role. "Jeff stood out as someone who is diligent. strategic, focused and has a strong and genuine connection to the District, its people, and our Council. He was the unanimous choice. "He believes in creating a strong team and working collaboratively on the problems facing the District and sector. While he has been renowned for his financial management, more recently, we have seen him demonstrate the breadth of his skillset as a leader. "There is a lot of opportunity in Waimakariri and local government. Having a leader who knows the sector inside out is going to be important in realising this potential. "The Council and I are excited to have selected Jeff and are looking forward to working with him in his new role that he starts immediately Millward says he is looking forward to continuing to build strong partnerships across the community and playing a pivotal role in the ongoing growth of the District. Waimakariri is one of only two councils nationwide with an AA rating from Local Government New Zealand's excellence programme. Standard and Poor's also recently confirmed the councils AA/A-1. credit rating. Northern Pegasus Bay Bylaw The Council has adopted the Northerm Pegasus Bay Bylaw 2016 (amended 2023) at its meeting on 2 May 2023 and it comes into force on 30 June 2023. The bylaw was adopted with minimal administrative amendments. The amendments provide minor changes to provide more clarity for WAIMAKARIRI DISTRICT COUNCIL beach users. None of these impact on any current beach activity or current level of beach access. Council will undertake a full review of the bylaw later this year which will involve consultation with beach users, key stakeholders and members of the public. Sign up for On Track Workshops Council's Community Team are holding a series of workshops for community groups and not for profit organisations called On Track On Track is six-part programme of training sessions. These workshops will cover key information to help your community group or not for profit organisation ensure it is on track to success. This training will be ideal for board or committee members, managers or sole employees who may have taken on a new role and others who would simply like to be re-energised and refresh their knowledge. The topics of focus will be Governance. Strategic and Operational Planning Communications. Funding and Team dynamics. The sessions are planned as an overall suite of leaming and groups are encouraged to participate in all six The fee of $100 includes up to three people per organisation for all six workshops.
