Further to that our unofficial moto is the school aof opportunities. This is backed up by what our students tell us and why they opted to join us We proudly deliver vast opportunities for our students in every anea of the currioulum, performing arts, sport and many other etra curricular activities, such as going to our own campground, Camp Taylor at Takematua. Our school is now the biggest in the South laland as a result of high demand Chisnalwood is part of the project Developing Mathematical Inquiry Communities (DMICI This is in line with educational research led by Dr Roberta Hunter from Massey University. Chisnallwood implemented DMIC in 2017 and it has been wonderful to see students progression in mathematics in the time since. Furthermore we have a strategic focus on writing and use the PACT framework to help us support student success Our curriculum inguiry learming topics for 2020 are: Terma 12- Community and Terms 314 Innovation. Our sudents will explore these topics in depth as part of our inguiry approach to leaming. The students have shown superbly how well they unpack these topics and how creative they are in their learning. This has become a well embedded part of our learner development Our music programene continues to function at an excellent standard. We have many students continue to perform outitandingly in all areas of music, and we have record numbers engaging in our music programme. At the Open Night i encourage you to viait the performing arts centre. Students get a wonderful technology experience at Chianalwood. Examplos of this include Robotronics, which is a combination of robotics and electronics. We also offer Computer Sclence lessona (linked to a UC programmel. Furthermore students can access the IT room at lunchtimes to explore these skits further, or pop next door to our radio station. Students can do extra learning in mechatronica, which is linked to a UC programme, join out coding club or do extension artL Our science laboratories continue to thrive as students explore the wondertul posibilities that science provides. VWe have science teacher to enhance out science programme, which has had a hugely positive impact. The range of sports we cater for is immense, at last count 17. Our sports development programme caters for elite athietes. Tuesday intermediate sports competitions allow students to compete against high calibre opponents Furthermore we cater for all students via our Tuesday Leisure Education programme. Due to Covid-19 we had to postpone our overseas trips this year but these will be rescheduled for 2021.
