Chisnallwood Intermediate School CHISNALLWOOD INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL An innovative school rich in resources and opportunities PRINCIPAL'S LETTER address by Principal II WHAKATAU Kia ora Koutou, It has been a wonderful start to our school year with our Mhi Whakatau. This was amended by over 1000 people and was a truly memorable occasion and will provide a strong foundation to what l am sure will be another great year at Chisnalwood. An important part of our transition for students is doing Top seam. This alows shudents to do team building. fun activities with fellow class members. This was a very enjoyable experience. Furthermore year 7 will also be going to Blue skies to do further Deam buiding activities. At the stat of each year lke to acknowledge all those who have made Chisnalwood the retirement of Mr Jenkins in 1976, M Taylor became Principal, a position he held until he retired in May 1991. A legacy left by Mr Taylors time is Camp Taylor at Takamatua, an asset that is our own. Mr Richard Paton was then appointed in 1991, spending twenty five years ma chiv ool e e mme Chianallwood Inermediate remains a beacon school in east Christchurch. All around u schools have closed, communities disrupted and new schools opened. Throughout this bime, Chisnalwood has stood strong within our community. We are confident in who we are. We live our school monoo nge the margmor tme, and explore whut is beyond. An amazing turnout of over 1000 students, whanau, and community attended our mihi whakatau to welcome our new Year 7 cohort. It was such a special time and fantastic way to start off our 2021 year. Sh laod loof fpuard soe ou buldon orperane with the Ministry THE GREAT CHISSY NORTH ISLAND ROAD TRIP in the near future, to meet the demand from our community! This is validation of all that is wonderful about what we do for our students and the rich curriculum that we provide. It reflects the hard work of our teachers and Board of trustees. It also reflects the many and varied opportunites that we provide on a week to week and term 10 term basis I look forward to seeing our new students grow in the two years they have wth us. To take the many opportunities that present themselves every week is the key to succeeding at Chisnallwood The Great North Island Road Trip' was the name of the Jouney 22 students and staff went on in the first week of school this year. After flying to Wellington we travelled in mini vans visiting Tongariro National Park then Auckland where we met with Emirates Team NZ members as well as watching them on the yacht Our students had been looking at the Americas Cup Yachting during Technology classes at school. The Sky before we headed up to Cape Reinga via the and e ulAandsurtinn don the dunes A highight for us was the 2021 is going to be a great year! dawn celebration at Waitangi after which we were served breakfast by our politicians including the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardem. So we had some great eperiences, saw amazing scenery met some important people and made some good friends. The aim of the journey was to experience New Zealand's diversity and we sure did that Nga mihi, Mr J.Fields Principal TOP TEAM HOUSE CHALLENGE OVETAUPO Top Team House Challenge involves a number of team-based activities and challenges modelled on the traditional Top Towm competition that first aired on New Zealand television in 1976. The activities encourage students to get to know each other in a new environment at the beginning of the year with maximum participation and fun! Our students had a fantastic time.
