CHISNALLWOOD INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL Kia ora Koutou, It has been a wonderful start to our school year with our Mahi Whakatau held to welcome our new students. It was great to be able to do our Mini Whakatau after the Covid disruptions and we had close to a thousand people attend. Chisnallwood Intermediate School An innovative school rich in resources and opportunities An important part of our transition for students is doing Top team. This allows students to do team building, fun activities with fellow class members. This was a very enjoyable experience for both year 7 and 8. At the start of each year I like to acknowledge all those who have made Chisnallwood the great school that it is. Messis Chisnall and Wood for donating the land, Mr Ron Bodger who chaired the establishment of Chisnallwood and Mr Jenkins the first principal. On the retirement of Mr Jenkins in 1976, Mr Taylor became Principal, a position he held until he retired in May 1991, A legacy left by Mr Taylor's time is Camp Taylor at Takamatua, an asset that is our own. Mr Richard Paton was then appointed in 1991, spending twenty five years as Principal an incredible achievement. During Mr Paton's principalship Chisnallwood made amazing progress. One of Mr Paton's legacies is the outstanding music programme that continues to thrive. Chisnallwood Intermediate remains a beacon school in east Christchurch. All around us schools have closed, communities disrupted and new schools opened Throughout this time, Chisnallwood has stood strong within our community. We are confident in who we are. We live our school motto; "To challenge the margins of time, and explore what is beyond. We look forward to commencing our building programme with the Ministry in the near future, to meet the demand from our community! This is validation of all that is wonderful about what we do for our students and the rich curriculum that we provide. It reflects the hard work of our teachers and Board of trustees. It also reflects the many and varied opportunities that we provide on a week to week and tomto term basis I look forward to seeing our new students grow in the two years they have with us. To take the many opportunities that present themselves every week is the key to succeeding at Chisnallwood 2023 is going to be a great year and every day is a big day! Ng mihi, 9 Febr.
