CHISNALLWOOD INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL Chisnallwood Intermediate School An innovative school rich in resources and opportunities TERM 1, 2023 Kia ora koutou, Our mission statement "Challenge the margins of time, and explore what is beyond" provides the context for what we expect from our students in terms of their learning. Throughout the school we embrace this ethos each and every day. Our learning programmes continue to be innovative and exciting. We have transitioned our year 7 students into the Chisnallwood family well. Our year 7 students have embraced the opportunities that exist so far and that has been pleasing. Part of the transition includes teaching our core values; respect, relationships, responsibilities and resilience (4Rs) in everything we do. Students get a wonderful technology experience during their two years at Chisnallwood. This includes Robotronics, a combination of robotics, mechatronics and electronics. This has proven to be a highly successful and popular subject. Our Art programme and Art extension options continue to prove popular also. Together with food technology, hard materials and digital technology, we are fortunate to be able to deliver an outstanding technology programme for our students. It is well known that our music programme is very highly regarded. We have many different music groups, catering to a wide variety of needs. We hope to be performing more in the community as the year evolves. Watch this space! The range of sports we cater for is unbelievable, 19 different codes at last count. An extra dimension to our sports programme is our sports development course, for elite athletes. This is a programme that really enhances the students' outcomes. Recently we have had our swimming sports and Caims swimming sports and triathlon. Students also got to compete in the Intermediate summer tournament. Winter sports trials have started and I look forward to spending time supporting students during the winter months at various sporting events. Our camps are well underway for the term. Students have been enjoying using our very own facilities at Camp Taylor in Takamatua. Activities such as water day, going on the Black cat and using the water slide are some of the many activities students embrace. This term we have hosted three groups from overseas, two from Thailand and one from Japan. These groups have fitted in well with our students and our students have learnt a lot from our guests. It has been great to have International visitors again. I am really excited to lead our shared vision during the rest of 2023. I look forward to continuing to work with such an excellent teaching staff as we unpack great learning opportunities for our students. Have a restful Easter. Ngàmihi nui 9 Field.
