Kia ora koutou As a proud nation, we are always excited and motivated to support our athletes when they are on an International Stage at any Olympics or International Games This year we are even more motivated and excited to be supporting "Chisnallwood 5" representing Aotearoa at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. We are extremely proud of Hayley Jensen (cricket), Lea Tahuhu (cricket), Jordan O'Connell-Inns (gymnastic), Temwa and Lwamba Chilese (squash). Examples of successes as with the "Chisnallwood 5" inspires us to do more. Our vision Challenge the margins of time and explore what is beyond, drives the many opportunities we continue to strive for and provide for our tamariki As an example, our Jazz band took part in the high school's Jazz Quest Competition last weekend. To be awarded bronze is an outstanding achievement. Currently, a team of four classes are working alongside the New Zealand Tech Company, Cyclone as they rollout Microsoft's Minecraft Education Edition (MEE) to teachers across New Zealand through its esports teacher induction Programme Chisnallwood, being located less than one kilometre from the red zone, the students, with the help of Cyclone MEE global mentor, Nathan Scott, built an exact replica of the land, photographed the red zone and then overlaid it into the Microsoft World using coding. The students even created an algorithm of their own. The students were tasked with producing proposals of how Christchurch could use this space. Among the ideas were sports facilities, homeless shelters to campgrounds with sustainable gardens. Water House were the first classes able to go and had a fantastic day of skiing in some very trying weather conditions PASTIRL Your & First Aid Our Year 8 students have been participating in first aid lessons with Paula from St John. They've been learning basic first aid skills, including CPR and bandaging intense bleeding. We would like to thank St John for all the amazing work they do in our community and for teaching our students important life skills.
