Chisnallwood Intermediate School CHISNALLWOOD INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL An innovative school rich in resources and opportunities ENROLLING NOW FOR 2021 KIA ORA KOUTOU, Orana Park Science Trip After our hugely successful open night we have had a massive enrolment uptake. People are also keen to come and do the school tours from 12-1pm on Thursdays. Please email info@chisnallwood.school.nz for a tour. We are currently processing our scholarships for academic, principal and music. I have been very impressed by the high calibre of applicants. It has been great that even with the challenges of COVID that we are able to provide our students with the opportunities that they expect from coming to Chisnallwood Intermediate. That has meant another busy term for our students as they live our motto; "Challenge the margins of time, and explore what is beyond" Examples of what the students have been doing this term at Chisnallwood: Teaching and Learning: 1) ICAS tests in; Science, Writing, Digitech, English, Spelling. Maths for extension students Year 8 students are currently going on a science trip to Orana Park to learn how animals adapt to different habitats. Here are a couple of photos of Team Airs trip. 2) Student led conferences-building community partnerships around learning 31 Book week-including dress up as favourite book character 4) Science Orana park fieldtrip 5) St John's first aid training for all year 8 students 6) Writers workshops for those passionate about writing 71 Science fairmany amazing projects Cultural Chissy Cantamath Competition 1) Intensive practice by our Kapahaka and Pasifika groups in preparation for the upcoming cultural festival 2) We have celebrated Cook Islands and Tongan language weeks Although the Cantamath Competition was canceled at Homcastle, Chisnalwood still ran our annual school competition. Well done to all the class teams that competed. Performing arts; 1) NZ playhouse performance 2) Jazzquest secondary competition-achieved silver award 31 Marzipan drama for students passionate about drama 4) Jazz combo performed at the Piano Sport: 1) Intermediate sports on Tuesday's 2) Basketball at Cowles stadium on Tuesday nights 3) Ski days 4) Rugby league tournament Chissy Taster Days Upcoming events: Maori language week-a huge celebration of Te reo Cultural festival-at Horncastie in week 2 of term 4. Chisnallwood hosted a number of students from many contributing primary schools who participated in one of three taster days and experienced a taste of what schooling is like at Chissy. A fun time was had by all. The students have been training very hard.
